Days Rwanda Gorilla Tour
Day 1: Travel to Rwanda
On arrival at airport, you will meet our company
representative or guide and then transfer to
Kigali (Rwanda). You will be briefed about your safari and
how to conduct yourself while
with the mountain gorillas. After lunch, depart for Parc
National des Volcans at 2:00 pm. The
journey goes through the attractive terraced hillsides that
make up much of Rwanda’s landscape,
gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga
volcanoes, sometimes with as many as
five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes
Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla
Nest Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Expedition:
This is the most exciting and unforgettable experience,
which might take one through the light
mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Gorilla
tracking is a captivating experience which
more than repays the effort needed to reach Parc National
des Volcans. . Enter the gorilla
sanctuary for tracking, pushing your way through the
undergrowth and parting thick creepers.
The time taken and the terrain vary with the movement of
these great giants. Over night at
Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (Full Board).
Day 3: Dian Fossey’s Grave & Lake Kivu launch Trip.
In the morning, you will go to Karisoke to see Dian Fosseys
Tomb. In the afternoon, drive to
Gisenyi to take a boat trip on Lake Kivu retiring in the
evening for dinner and overnight at
Lake Kivu Serena.
Day 4: Transfer to Uganda
Have breakfast at leisure and then transfer to Mgahinga
National Park. Located in the far
southwestern corner of Uganda, Mgahinga National Park is the
smallest park in Uganda with
an area of only 34 square kilometers. This park makes up the
Ugandan part of the Virunga
Conservation Area which spans three countries; Uganda,
Rwanda and Democratic Republic
of Congo (Zaire). Each of these countries has established
National Parks in the area to protect
the tropical rainforest watersheds and wildlife of the
Virunga region. Overnight at Volcanoes
Mount Gahinga Lodge (Full Board).
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking/Community Walk
In the morning, have breakfast and enjoy trekking the
distinctive race of the widespread
blue monkeys known as bamboo-associated texa primates listed
as endangered by the wild
conservation Union. Endemic to the Albertine Rift, the
golden monkey is characterised by a
bright Orange-golden body, cheeks and tail, contrasting with
its black limbs crown and tail end.
In the afternoon you will go for a community walk to share
part of the typical African Culture,
see how Africans live, traditional customs and jewelry
making. It is from this walk that one gets
to know the insights into the culture and traditional life
of the Batwa people. Batwa pygmies
traditionally inhabited this area, and a local support group
helps protect the Batwa culture by
offering a village walk with a chance to see the blacksmith
and basket weavers at work. Dinner
and overnight at Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge.
Day 6: Travel to Kigali (Rwanda)
Depart for Kigali in Rwanda. You will go for a tour of the
city including a visit to the market,
pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan
cultural centre and the genocide
memorial. Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back
home.
